Our building insurance policy is renewed annually, and below is an extract from the General Conditions of the policy regarding unoccupied buildings. It is self-explanatory, but if not adhered to, the property will be excluded from cover under the terms of the policy:-
GENERAL CONDITIONS
Unoccupied buildings
12 in respect of any Buildings or Flat that is:
1. Left unfurnished
2. Furnished but not lived in for more than 60 consecutive days it is a condition of this insurance that the Building or Flat are inspected once every fourteen days by the Insured or a responsible
person acting on their behalf
3. The water system be turned off at the mains and the heating system be drained down, or during the period 1st November to 31st March each year heating systems must be kept working at a minimum
temperature of 10 degrees centigrade
the Building or Flat is made secure against illegal entry
